Sienna Miller
Maggie Pollitt in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof at the Apollo Theatre, London
When your co-star (Jack O’Connell) starts the play manspreading in the buff, while facing the front row under an actual shower, your theatrical fireworks need to be white-hot to command the crowd’s attention. Before the opening night, it’s fair to say some critics were a little sceptical that Sienna Miller had the range for this, one of Tennessee Williams’ most beloved parts and deftly executed in the past by the likes of Lindsay Duncan and Elizabeth Taylor, but, boy, did the actress’ superb run in 2017 at the Apollo Theatre vanquish the doubters. Striding around the boards (mostly on her toes, although at times on all fours) wound up and wounded, Miller projected an emotional intensity that reverberated through the audience long after the curtain came down. Meow indeed.

The West End production of the Tennessee Williams classic will be screened in cinemas in early 2018.

The recent London revival of Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, starring Sienna Miller as Maggie and Jack O’Connell as Brick, will be screened in movie theatres across the globe February 22, 2018.

Benedict Andrews directed the West End revival that opened July 24 at London’s Apollo Theatre. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof ended its engagement October 7.

Take a first look at the trailer for the live broadcast above.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will be screened in 2,500 venues across 60 countries.

London’s Young Vic Theatre and NTLive join forces for the broadcast of the production that also features Colm Meaney (Big Daddy), Lisa Palfrey (Big Mama), Hayley Squires (Mae), Brian Gleeson (Gooper), Richard Hansel (Doctor), and Michael J. Shannon (Reverend).

The production featured scenic design by Magda Willi with costumes by Alice Babidge, lighting by Jon Clark, music by Jed Kurzel, and sound design by Gareth Fry.

The play, written by Tennessee Williams, is set in Mississippi on a steamy night where a family gathers to celebrate Big Daddy’s birthday. As stated in press notes, “The scorching heat is almost as oppressive as the lies they tell. Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage. With the future of the family at stake, which version of the truth is real—and which will win out?”

NTLive was founded in 2009, and screenings have reached over 7 million people in 60 countries. For more information about the upcoming screening, click here.

Sienna Miller & Jack O’Connell Head To ‘Cat On A Hot Tin Roof’ In London’s West End

Feb 25th, 2017       Posted by: admin       Filed in: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof ,News       Comments: 0

Sienna Miller and Jack O’Connell are set to star in Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer classic Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in London’s West End. The Young Vic production will be staged by Benedict Matthews, who previously directed his own version of Three Sisters as well as A Streetcar Named Desire with Gillian Anderson and Ben Foster, which transferred to New York last year.

It’s been six years since Miller has performed on the London stage with Flare Path. She’ll play Maggie, the wife of all-American former pro football player Brick Pollitt (played by O’Connell). On a steamy night in Mississippi, the Southern family gather at their cotton plantation to celebrate Brick’s father’s birthday while Brick and Maggie dance round the secrets and sexual tensions that threaten to destroy their marriage.

Cat on a Hot Tin Roof previews in London’s Apollo Theater on July 13, 2017, before it kicks off for a 12-week run from July 24. The production marks The Young Vic’s first production to debut directly in the West End and is presented by The Young Vic and The Young Ones. Previously, the theater has transferred A View from a Bridge, Golem, The Scottsboro Boys, Simply Heavenly, Tintin and A Doll’s House.

Miller, who’s starred in pics such as American Sniper and Foxcatcher, is next up in James Gray’s The Lost City of Z, with Charlie Hunnam, Tom Holland and Robert Pattinson. Her New York theater credits include After Miss Julie, Cabaret, Independence and Cigarettes and Chocolate.

O’Connell has stared in titles such Yann Demange’s ’71, Starred Up and Money Monster. He’ll next hit the big screen with Tulip Fever and The Man with the Iron Heart as well as starring in the Netflix TV series Godless. He was last seen on stage in The Nap at Sheffield Crucible Theater.

Miller’s repped by CAA in the U.S. and United Agents in the UK. O’Connell is repped by CAA in the U.S. and Conway van Gelder Grant in the UK.
